Eczema, a common skin disease, is a bane to both children and adults. It is a highly treatable disease, despite the fact that its origins and triggers are largely unknown.

What Is Eczema?

Eczema presents in different ways, but is basically a skin rash. The most recognizable eczema skin symptoms are patches of red, dry, often raised, and itchy skin. Eczema rashes can also have a somewhat scaly, dry appearance, cracked-skin look, or be peeling and blistering. Eczema pictures help people identify suspected eczema skin rashes so that proper treatment can be sought.

Curing And Treating Eczema

One central cause of eczema is not known, but there has been some progress in understanding and identifying triggers of eczema reactions. Basically, eczema is an immune symptom response something like (and often caused by) allergies. There is no true cure for eczema, but with this understanding of environmental and medical causes of eczema, avoiding triggers and managing flare-ups makes eczema a sort of misdemeanor skin disease. A good eczema treatment plan formulated with a doctor or dermatologist makes living comfortably with eczema a possibility while researchers continue to look for an eczema cure.

Doctors and dermatologists have an arsenal of eczema treatment medications and products available. Eczema treatment depends on the source of eczema aggravation and can include anything from strong medications and steroids to designing an eczema diet if food seems to be a source of irritation. The best way to treat eczema flare-ups, however, is to prevent them. People with eczema should moisturize daily, try not to sweat excessively, avoid changes in humidity and learn and avoid their eczema triggers.

Types Of Eczema

There are three recognized types of eczema.

The itching and irritation of eczema can be severe, but can be managed with the help of medical professionals. Unfortunately, eczema cannot yet be cured, but with the variety of treatment and control options, eczema is becoming easier and easier to live with.
