Mainstream Brands Offer Gentler Dishwashing Options

Wouldn’t it be nice to never have to hand wash a dish in a dishwashing liquid? Yeah, that would be heaven. But not an option for most of us.

Sure, dishwashing is a minor life annoyance, one that most of us would be all too glad to be rid of. But for some people the pain of dishwashing is true agony. Some people have such awful reactions to the regular versions of grocery store dish washing liquid like the original joy dish washing liquid, dawn dish washing liquid, and Ajax dish washing liquid (among most other regular formulations), that a little household chore becomes a source of pain and skin deformation.

What can these people do? Well, we can suppose these people could use the excuse to never wash a dish and make it another household member’s problem, but real-life being what it is, that’s not always a possibility.

There are plenty of allergy product dishwashing liquids for people with allergies and sensitivities to try, manufactured by both natural product producers and mainstream product manufacturers like Dawn, Joy, and their peers.

The first thing to do is to take a look at the product list and learn about the most offending chemicals. What is in dishwashing liquid in more harsh commercial versions is what makes hands crack and react. Some regular culprits are sodium lauryl sulphate, dyes, perfumes, and phosphates.

What is in dishwashing liquid formulated for skin sensitivities is commonly things like water, corn starch and palm kernel oil derivatives (so be aware if you have a corn allergy), coco-betain (plant source ingredient), alcohol derivatives (from coconut sources), borax, and carboxy methyl cellulose, and perhaps essential oils from citrus fruits. Of course, every formulation is different - this is just one example.

There was a time when a skin-sensitive dishwashing liquid couldn’t be bought at the local supermarket. With mainstream product a manufacturer rising to the challenge of meeting all their customer’s needs, that time has passed. Now there are allergen and fragrance free dishwashing liquid product choices right on the shelves next to the original formulas. Here are a few popular brand manufacturers that have good, gentle dish washing liquids to offer at the local grocer.

The nice thing about purchasing dishwashing liquids from brand leaders is that they haven’t given up on soap action to make it easier on the skin. With a long history in fighting stubborn grease and stuck-on foods, these product manufacturers have retained the cleaning properties of their liquids while making them easier to live with. This is not the case for every alternative dishwashing liquid out there, many of which produce little sudsing action and have limited ability to remove stuck on foods and grease.

In the end, it’s nice to know that leading household brand manufacturers are able to produce the products people with sensitive skin need to maintain daily living.
